Pure Wonder

Pure Wonder

Yesterday I was sitting on my couch with my mother, talking about some work. I looked to my left and I saw a baby lizard on the couch next to ours. Now, I'm not a fan of lizards, to be honest. But this time, something was different. I saw the baby lizard with its neck held high and looking at the surrounding and it had pure wonder and curiosity. Just like the ones we see in a human child. So full of innocence.

Now, I'm still not a fan of lizards, but the similarities could not have been ignored. When I thought about it and imagined a full-grown lizard, I did not remember its eyes being so curious, nor they had that wonder. And when I saw our own people, the wonder was gone in the eyes of our "adults".

Why is it that this life takes away our wonder, takes away the excitement, takes away the will? I really wish that my curiosity never leaves my side. I really wish that my eyes would still sparkle with joy and excitement as they uncover the mysteries of life and not be dull and full of fear.

Just something a lizard made me appreciate and realize. Life has a funny way to teach us, am I right?
