Lockdown did take a toll on all of us; be it mentally, physically, emotionally or economically. These unprecedented times have been very harsh on some people, they have lost their jobs, suffered huge losses in their businesses, their loved one's succumed to Covid-19 and many many migrant workers had to hit the roads in this scorching heat and walk hundreds of miles to get to their homes, while many are still on their way as we talk.
Everyone had their own ways to cope up with their trauma and paranoia to keep themselves calm, placid and strong. I too had a long list of stuff that was pending since a long time and I could never indulge in them due to shortage of time and/or lack of motivation. Cooking was one such thing i was always fond of but could never commit myself to it as it requires a certain amount of patience and engrossment to impart all the necessary flavours and aroma to your dish and make it finger lickin' good!
Cooking has more or less been my therapy throughout this lockdown. I've tried my hands at baking all sorts of cakes, made delicious pastas and even fried some juicy chicken! I swear, it just got better each day. I love how my family appreciates every single thing i cook for them and that boosts my morale even more. These distances that the lockdown created actually brought people close, if not physically then virtually. I got a chance to reconnect with two of my childhood pals and it felt amazing.
Guess we all were heading back to our roots. This period was necessary for us as humans to detoxify and heal our bodies from all the pollution and also give us a major break from the overtime of this nasty rat-race. Not complaining but I miss going out and being able to meet my friends, hope this doesn't get hard any further and all this is over soon!
