Earlier I thought that there is some kind of relationship between me and agriculture, but I understood it only after I stepped on this agricultural land.
Each and every living being on this earth has a relation with agriculture.
Right From a billionaire who eats bread and jam for breakfast, to the poor who eats rice porridge.
Everyone who needs Food to sustain life has a relation with agriculture, but we are all living
without being related to the Farmers who are cultivating for us.
WHAT IS THE RELATION THERE?
A farmer does his job and we are doing ours. Does that mean we both are the same?
That both of us work for remuneration, for Money! (chuckles)
So, What’ll you do if your salary is not paid for two months?
The answer seems simple, we will withdraw from our Savings and spend it.
What if your company does not pay your salary for six months?
Then we will resign that job and search for another. Similarly what if a farmer thinks the same way in the corresponding situation?
About switching professions!!!
That's the next dilemma we are going to face if the present situation prevails.
But a Farmer,
Even if he is or is not in Profit for years together with the crops that he has sown, he keeps searching for his life in every seed he sows in the hope of succeeding.
How can such a Farmer and we be the same!
Farming is not so easy, as changing an attire!
It’s a beautiful relationship between Man and Earth. It is science even the scientists cannot understand, only a farmer can understand it.
Still, we don’t even care to give a look when this very same farmer commits suicide! Also, this has become casual news in daily newspapers!!
Even at this stage, we don't understand the loss that occurs when a farmer dies. The number of cultivators is coming down while on the other hand, the number of food consumers is rising. Asa result, along with the price hike in the market, Adulteration is also on the rise.
If this continues likewise, the wealth you would give your children as heredity for the future, won’t even suffice their hospital expenses!!
The price of land is inflating and the value of farmers is going down. If we go on constructing buildings, the situation doesn't seem to improve in the near future.
WHAT WILL WE FEED ON TO SUSTAIN LIFE?
That’s why no farmer wishes to make his son a farmer now.
Already, our generation doesn’t even know what exactly agriculture is!
The future generation will see agriculture only in history books. The farmer who once used to live with courage now is lives in fear.
He is scared to sow a crop, not sure if he would have enough water to irrigate it for the future.
If there is an irrigation facility, he is scared of whether he would be able to reap the crop in time.
After the harvest, he is scared of how to protect it,
And due to the same fear, he sells off his crops at a throwaway price!!
The middle buyers sell the same crop for ten times the buying price in the market. So the person who actually puts efforts and grows the food we eat is losing and the food consumers, what about us?
(sighs)
We are losing too!
Do you know why all of this is happening?
Because we're living without being related to farmers!
This isn't for any particular Institution.
No! It is for each one of us!
Who is the government?
Aren’t you?
The responsibility to safeguard the farmers isn’t just the government's job, but of every one of us, living on this Earth who eats food grown by them.
That is why we need to raise our voice to safeguard Farmers and their Rights!!
