....is that it?

Story By:-Aastha Mahida,21
Let me take you all to a flashback before I start my story. As you all must have known that my father is very fond of plants so one of our neighbors gifted us a bonsai. The bonsai was planted in a small chai cup and it appeared to be the cutest thing around me. I have always been fascinated by miniature versions of all and everything. The bonsai growing in the chai cup did not need much water and it was just surviving perfectly. My mother noticed it one fine day and told me to place it in a bigger pot so it could grow to its optimum size. I wasn’t ready to pull the plant from the cup, it seemed like the bonsai was stunningly comfortable where it was. After a few days when I was walking around my balcony, I was struck because I couldn’t see the bonsai. I hurriedly ran downstairs and asked my mother where did the bonsai go. She replied, “Go check out the backyard and tell me how you like it”. I again rushed to the backyard and my oculus started searching for the bonsai. She said, “Beta, see properly. Many times things don’t remain the same as they were earlier. They should be exposed to change”. After looking for a while I found my bonsai in a bigger pot and I was astonished. What came in my mind were these very simple words, “Change is the only constant”.

To elucidate, the bonsai looked pretty well accommodated in the small cup just like we have accommodated to this lockdown. We are thinking that this is it, it’s the most that we’ve grown and life seems pretty well, but seriously, give it a different perspective. Is this the happiest you would be? Won’t it be amazing when all these pandemic ends and we are back to that world which has a lot of unexplored and undiscovered? Just ask yourself, isn’t being in the small cup a feeling of being stagnant; no more growth? Do you really want to be satisfied with the cute small bonsai or do you want it to grow even more beautiful? Ask yourself these questions and analyse your response. Don’t let this lockdown make you mentally paralysed instead let it be your productive hibernation for an amazing kick start to a better YOU.
