INSANITY

picture of a girl
Poem By:-Srikrish,16
screws loosen as I pace the asylum,
a sly hum of triumph moving through the columns,
panic ensues as maniacs set foot,
glancing at normalcy like a fox to a possum

emphatic screams echoing through galactic streams,
at least that's how these hallways seem,
always teemed with guards with self-esteem the weight of steam,
and us,
born as fiends,

eyes gleam with hope,
dreams tied to ropes,
now know no control,
marching in is the patrol,
launching,
lunging,
some limping, some leaping like savages deprived of soul,
lo and behold,

while tearing away at the grills,
hands suddenly interlocked with cuffs of steel,
gawky, I turn to see cocky khaki-sporting bodies,
berating one after the other,
loading us back into our cages,
stocked with wounds and scratches,
we crawled into our homes, the ones we've inhabited for ages,
with one long last look, I finally complied,
as I realized,
we didn't lack brains,
we just lacked khakhi
