Appreciation

It is important to practice appreciation. What's taken for granted will eventually be taken away. Then one will end up missing the most what one appreciated the least. It just happened so fast and sudden. The virus was knocking on our doors before we realized it. When all the panic started, my younger brother and I were alone here as my parents were at my native place due to some circumstances. Luckily, on the day when the first lockdown was announced, my father was able to get the last flight home.

However, home is always incomplete without mom. Being someone who is not interested in the kitchen at all, household work felt like a burden with no assistance from the house help because of lockdown. It was more than a month before dad got a pass to go and get mom home. In that one month, I learned so many things. Trust me, managing the house is very tough and frustrating — doing the same thing all day every day.

I really appreciate and respect the efforts of all the ladies out there doing the same old routine stuff every single day without complaining about it. Now onwards, I am never going to take mom for granted. I still try to help her with things I can and I will advise everyone to do the same if possible. This lockdown has been a great teacher because it taught me lessons of life that I wouldn't have learned otherwise.
