On Different Books of Different Genre

“I am planning to go to Canada for my further studies.” I proposed.

“I think you have completed your studies,” said my uncle and cousins.

“Does your father have enough money?", They asked

“No, but, let’s see. We will manage something” I replied.

Then they interjected “Oh really? And how exactly?"

"Yes, for sure and the way your son went there without a degree and with just your money, my journey will be different. Soon I will be having my degree with me, and about the money, you don't have to worry about it. We won't come to you if that's your concern." I replied very harshly.

“Oh! So, you are about to complete your graduation, right? Then why do you want to waste your parent’s money? Stay here and find a small job to support your parents until they find you a nice boy.” they replied with a taunt.

This is the usual type of conversation I regularly have with my extended family members and I can say this is my lockdown story.

My day starts with the topic of finding a boy for me and ends with doing household chores. Body-shaming comments getting scores like 6 out of 10 for my cooking skills are complementary to it.

That's not it, even hearing my parents getting blamed for me and my sister's behaviour.
I have always been upset with my parents because they have been very restrictive. This lockdown made me realize that they are not someone I am staying with.
I am very different from what they want me to be. It's a kind of person I hate and I can never be. I hate to say this but I see my future without them and it scares me.

I don't want my family to be on my side, I just want every one of us to be on the same side. But when you find out that your expectations and efforts are in vain, it's heartbreaking. Because being on the same page is impossible when you belong to different books from a different genre.
