picture of a man and his 3 daughters
In a society, where daughters are considered a curse, I happen to be born in a family that only had daughters and no son. I'm the youngest in my house, on the birth of my eldest sister my paternal family didn't cherish it as they were expecting a boy but my father always comforted my mother. Then after the birth of my elder sister, my mother again got very disappointed, as throughout her pregnancy she had prayed to Allah to bless her with a boy, but Allah has other plans, plans which are in the best interest of us but we humans are oblivious.
My father was not fond of having so many children, he himself only has two sisters and no brother, so he was very much of the opinion of having a small family, and having two daughters, he considered it to be complete, whereas my mother was under the pressure of the society, the elderly ladies of my family would make her feel uncomfortable about having only daughters, they would giver her advises reading specific verses from the Holy Quran so that Allah would bless her with a baby boy, few referred her to some highly qualified doctors, few told her about some herbs that could help her out and as many dumb suggestions as possible. My mother was sick and tired of this kind of attitude, she would discuss this with my father, but he always asked her to ignore such ridiculous people, he would tell her how happy and blessed he feels to have two beautiful daughters.
My mother under the social pressure wanted to give it another try after eight years. This time again she prayed day and night, did all the possible remedies for a baby boy. She was waiting for the day when the gender of the baby will be revealed, she was quite excited but when she was revealed that this time too its a baby girl, my mother was very disheartened, she came home crying and told my father about it, my father a composed man, talked it out with her. Till date my mother proudly quotes him, he said "you should be rather happy being blessed with three daughters, why don't you pray for the health of the baby, god forbid if she is missing a finger or a toe can you fix that? We can't. I don't want to see you crying again ever for not having a son, our daughters are our sons, we both will work hard and raise them the best way and I'm proud to be a father to three beautiful daughters"
My mother still adores the day I was born, she always mentions the way my father cherished it, the way he was kissing my face even knowing the fact that I was all dirty and not given bath yet but yeah that was my father, the person who adores us like crazy.
